P.A.N.D.A.S.

You will see many posts from me about P.A.N.D.A.S. It is so important to get the message to parents, doctors, teachers, and friends, that when a child starts to exhibit different/unusual behaviors there may be a very good reason for it. Strep can cause many things to go wrong in the body, it can lead to heart problems and it can cross the blood brain barrier and cause the brain to start attacking its own antibodies. When this happens the body reacts in different ways, a child may have verbal outbursts, tremors in the legs and arms, head jerking, eye blinking, they may be fearful of leaving their home and become clingy, they can become hostile, and many start having OCD symtoms. There are ways to treat it, usually with a simple round of antibiotics and in some cases IVIG is required. Many times the strep infection could have been very mild and gone without incident. I am so thankful that a blood test was performed by my grandson's doctor and it showed he had a large amount of strep in his body. The antibiotics he was given has alleviated most of his symptoms, he still has a few but you would not know it unless you were looking for the signs. He is well on his way to recovery.

Please watch the video attached at the bottom of this message. It shows the little girl who could not stop sneezing - actually it wasn't a sneeze at all but a tic - she was diagnosed with P.A.N.D.A.S

  1. Thank goodness medical technology has started to recognize these unusual happenings in the human body!! Back-in-the-day they were dismissed as bad behavior or heaven knows what......
    Great Post!
