I always say that each year I am going to start early and get all my painting done so I can sit back and enjoy the holidays. Yet every year I am still rushing to finish what I didn't start earlier. Here is my Santa that I make each year. This year I am determined to keep one for myself. He is entirely made by hand, his fur is from real mink (I like to repurpose mink, fox, and sometimes rabbit coats), his beard is mohair hand sheered by a lovely lady in California. Of course, I have to wash it once I receive it and then I glue it to the face piece by piece. The fabric varies in color but mostly in brocades and moire fabric. His eyes are painted either blue or green, depending on my mood. He sits about 16" but is almost 24" from head to toe. He is beautiful and just waiting for a home.

Thanks for letting me know about your blog. I'm glad to see you are going to be selling some of your wonderful painted and handmade items.
ReplyDeleteThis santa is really special too, and you should keep one for yourself. How did you get started making them?
I'll be checking back often to see what you are creating.
