Pink Saturday

Happy Pink Saturday, Yall!!

Thank you, Ms. Beverly, for hosting Pink Saturday once again. These days it seems I only have time to post once a week. This week I want to show you a few of my ornament I have painted for my ETSY shop. I love painting Santas as I am sure I have said many time in past posts. But finding unique surfaces to paint on is difficult. As a Decorative Painter we are known to paint on anything! About fifteen years ago I started painting on burned out lightbulbs, can't remember how it happened or who told me it would be a good idea but they have been a favorite with my customers and a surface I can easily find. I always had an abundance of bulbs, everyone saved them for me and since I worked near the military housing unit, there were an abundance of bulbs in my paint room. At one point I even said I wasn't going to paint anymore bulbs - but, here I am showing you the one I just completed. This is my chandelier Santa. Isn't he sweet? I painted him on the flame tip bulb from my dining room chandelier and he can be used as an ornament or as a pendant. He is wearing pink - my favorite color, of course, and he has already found a home with my neighbor, Rebecca. I do paint him in other colors, he can't be in pink all the time and some people are not pink lovers - can you believe it???

During the many years I worked on a military base I was fortunate enough to meet so many people - from the young enlisted to the top military admirals. But some of the best times were with the maintenance workers on base - the ones I relied on to keep my building together for those visiting dignataries. One of those were my electricians. They supplied me with a lot of burned out bulbs and the most interesting one was the outdoor lamp found on street corners. So here is my Santa, in red, painted on a very large lamp - an 8" bulb. Interesting isn't he?

Thanks for stopping by, yall. Hope you will come back soon as I have lots more pink to share.

  7. Brenda,
I'm so happy to be the proud owner of the Pink Hand-Painted Santa Bulb! He's a beauty and will be the prize of my Christmas Tree this year! (And I can't believe that anyone would like him in another color, but guess "it takes all kinds!")
