Pink Saturday

I love little baby shoes. I started collecting them about twenty years ago to make candle holders and little flower vases out of. I still have quite a few including ones from my grandchildren and a special little pair from my own children (my oldest is 44). This darling little pair of booties was handed down to me by my sister after her son and then her daughter wore them home from the hospital. When my son was born he wore them and then my daughter. We couldn't let the tradition end there so when my nephew's son was born, again the booties came out for him to wear, followed by his sister, then they were passed on to my niece who had a son and daughter and they also wore those simple little booties.

It took a long time for our dream of a grandchild came to be and we were so excited. But there was a problem - my daughter was pregnant with twins. How were they suppose to wear these booties? We solved the problem and each wore one bootie home. Not long afterwards my son had two little girls and they each wore the same booties as their dad did thirty four years earlier. Since then the booties have returned to my house for safe keeping or until there is another baby on the way. A sweet tradtition that I hope carries on for a long time.

Now, for Pink Saturday, this is a pair of the little shoes I have saved. I actually started painting them back in the eighties but never finished. I hesitated painting them because I knew I wanted to put them in my ETSY shop but there are a few very sweet bloggers who have done the same style shoe. I hope they understand. I didn't like the original painting I had on the shoe so I painted over it and added the sweet little rosebuds. I think I will keep the other - but then what am I to do with the other dozen pairs I have in my studio just waiting to be finished??

Thank you, Ms. Beverly for hosting another Pink Saturday. To see more beautiful pink items click on the link above. Until next week.
